About Capitol Centre
Capitol Centre is Appleton’s version of that famous TV bar where everybody knows your name. Stop in and be part of a diverse crowd who wants to have a little fun, see some friends, get quality refreshments and have some great food!
We’ve got the best staff in the valley – some of them have been with Capitol Centre for more than a decade. Their commitment to service and building relationships with our customers are the reason people come back again and again.
The Capitol Centre Story
This bar has been a mainstay of the Fox Valley social scene for 40 years. It started out as the Golden Globe in the mid 80’s. The Plamann brothers bought the Golden Globe in 1999 and changed the name to The Capitol Centre.
In December of 2023, Mike and Kay Gonnering purchased the bar as a new adventure – to take the next step in their lives. Their plans for Capitol Centre are simple: to continue to serve their awesome customers with the service they deserve while doing a few minor updates to the facility and the menu.
Our Owners
KAY AND MIKE GONNERING
Mike and Kay have been together 35 years. They have four adult children and four grandchildren – although they are hoping for many more. They started out on the farm and worked their way through the ranks in construction to a point that they wanted a new challenge.
They believe that the best part about owning Capitol Centre is their awesome staff and customers. Mike and Kay enjoy getting to know each of them as they go through this new adventure.
